YACHT BASE Sami Marina – Kefalonia – Ionian Sea Sami is a coastal town on the east side of the island of Kefalonia, situated in a safe bay facing the island of Ithaki. Its location is perfect to start enjoying your sailing vacation right away. From there you can start your vacation by reaching the beautiful beach of Antisamos or secluded coves in Ithaki in about an hour.
This unique starting location offers many choices for a perfect sailing holiday. From staying around Kefalonia and Ithaki, or island hopping to Zakynthos in the South, or Meganisi, Lefkada, Kastos, Atokos or Kalamos in the North, there’s a perfect sailing holiday plan for every wish. You will discover countless anchorages in picturesque bays and explore beautiful ports.
Not far from our yacht base one can visit the beautiful sites of the Melissani lake and Drogarati cave. Kefalonia offers many sailing destinations and anchoring, such as the picturesque Fiscardo, natural harbour of Assos, or famous Myrto beach.
East if Kefalonia, Ithaki, home of Odysseus is the symbol of reaching completeness. Its many secluded coves and authentic harbours might in fact give you a sense of fulfilment. The main port and capital of the island, Vathy, with its traditional houses and nice restaurants, is certainly worth a visit. So are Kioni, a jewel little harbour on the NE side of the island, and Frikes.
There are many more places to visit that fail to disappoint, like Atokos and its unique “one house bay”, pine-green Kalamos and tiny Kastos for more quiet and tranquillity.
Further north of Kefalonia, the island of Meganisi offers a multitude of bays and many options for mooring in its northern part. Vathy offers all facilities for a pleasurable stop in this charming harbour. There is a number of taverns and restaurants offering delicious local food.
